It's an odd time of year at the moment because everything is coming to an end - including the school year. My direction at the beginning of the year was working with and altering found photographs which then led me on to pushing them as far as I could, physically and mentally. By using found photography I feel that it gave me room to breathe out of all the new images we see everyday, but now I feel I can adopt this attitude to my own photographs by photographing nothing in particular, empty surface and fields of nothingness, then I can push these new photographs again like I did with the found images. I am also thinking about projection onto surface and electronic installations to push it all even further.
Sculpture is becoming more and more prominent in my thoughts and concepts and at the moment I am making forms from things that were once other peoples belongings and changing them. One of the things that struck me most this year was the fact that I was making two-dimensional work which referred to third dimension [through digital editing] and my three-dimensional work was referring to the second dimension [through being flattened, suspended or collapsed]. I am excited to carry on with my work and for third year. |
